SATURDAY WORKSHOP: 2/15/14 10am-4pm
Basic Watercolor Techniques

This class will provide an overview of skills and painting approaches used in watercolors. The pace of the class and topics covered will be adjusted depending on the skill level of those in attendance. We will explore painting techniques such as graded washes, wet-in-wet, drybrush, spatter, scraping, masking, etc. I will also discuss composition, draftsmanship and color theory. Participants should bring... a bag lunch. Bring drawing and painting materials if you have them, but they are not required for this class. I will provide brushes, paper, paints and a palette to anyone who needs them.

About the Instructor:

SATURDAY WORKSHOP: 2/22/14 10am-4pm
Drawing

Whether as preparation for a painting or as finished work, drawing well is a fundamental skill. This class will explore drawing, focusing on careful observation and attention to shape, light, proportion and relationships among various elements in a subject. Anyone is welcome - beginner, intermediate or advanced, regardless of preferred medium. We will discuss perspective and foreshortening, as well as methods to aid in arriving at a well-rendered drawing. Most work will be graphite on white paper, but charcoal and tinted paper will be available to try. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Bring drawing materials if you have them, but they are not required for this class. I will provide pencils, erasers and paper.
